Getting to Know Bennett’s UAE Consultants: Meet Anushay Hussain

Anushay Hussain is Bennett’s Dubai-based Special Educational Needs consultant and a licensed speech-language pathologist. In this short interview she talks about her background, why Bennett felt like a natural home, and what she values most in her work with families in the UAE.
Anushay joined Bennett’s UAE team to support families whose children have additional learning needs: understanding a child’s profile, planning the right support, and working alongside schools and therapists so that support holds together. Earlier this year she answered eight questions parents in the UAE ask most often; this time the questions are about her.
Tell us about your education and professional background.
Anushay Hussain: I was born and raised in Pakistan, where I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech-Language Pathology at Ziauddin College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences. Over nearly a decade I’ve worked closely with children and families in Pakistan and the UAE, in clinical, school and hospital settings.
Much of my work has focused on speech therapy with a wide range of clients and diagnoses, developing communication, supporting children with additional learning needs, and working alongside families and schools to create meaningful, inclusive support plans, including parent training and coaching. I’ve also put a lot of energy into raising awareness and empowering parents through workshops and awareness programmes in schools.
I lead a multidisciplinary child development centre in Karachi, where my team and I support children’s speech, language, sensory, behaviour, social and emotional development. That work shaped my belief that progress happens when support is shared: when caregivers, teachers and therapists work together rather than in separate spaces.
How did you come to join Bennett International?
Anushay Hussain: My connection with Bennett grew out of shared values. I felt an immediate alignment in the way Bennett prioritises listening to families, understanding context, and recognising that every child’s story is unique.
Joining Bennett was a very natural step. It allowed me to extend the work I’m already passionate about, within a community that approaches each family with real care, cultural responsiveness and collaboration.
What is it about the Bennett community that resonates with you?
Anushay Hussain: I love how collaborative the culture is. We learn from one another and we value each other’s perspectives. Everyone works as a unit, supporting each other to make sure the families we work with get our utmost care.
Tell us about the work you do supporting children with additional needs in the UAE.
Anushay Hussain: In the UAE, I support families who are working through questions around speech, language, social and emotional development, learning differences and school inclusion. Many families are trying to understand what their child needs, how to advocate, and how to build supportive routines at home and at school.
My role is to guide them through that process: helping them understand their child’s strengths, developing individualised support strategies, collaborating with schools, and walking alongside them as they make decisions.
I see my work as partnership-based. I support families to feel seen, informed, confident and empowered.
What’s your favourite aspect of working with these families?
Anushay Hussain: My favourite moments are when a family begins to feel at ease; when the worry softens, and they feel connected to their child in a new way.
Progress is meaningful, but confidence, understanding and joy in the relationship, that is what truly endures. Being alongside families as they find that grounding is something I value deeply.
Beyond your work with Bennett, what are some of your interests and hobbies?
Anushay Hussain: I love exploring different cultures and communities, especially through travel, food and conversation. I enjoy watching films, Pilates, meeting friends and family, playing video games, and creating spaces that feel warm and intentional.
I’m also someone who is always learning, through workshops, reading, or simply shared dialogue. Connecting to the universe and all its beings is a big part of who I am, in life and in work.

How a Bennett consultant helps
Anushay is one of the consultants a family meets when they contact us about a child with additional needs in the UAE. Alongside her, Aamynah Nagji leads our UAE team, and together they help families understand a child’s profile, find schools whose support matches it, and keep that support in place through the school years. Our Special Education Needs support page for the UAE describes how we work with families here, and our guide to the levels of support in Dubai schools is a good place to start reading.
