    Five Regions, Five Systems

Secure the right education in Northern California with a clear roadmap

Whether you are planning an upcoming corporate relocation or realizing that your child’s current school is no longer working, our team delivers the customized education support in San Francisco required to make a confident decision.

Five regions, five distinct school systems

San Francisco, the Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Marin each boast their own distinct academic cultures and enrollment criteria. Because where you live dictates where your child can thrive, we help you connect these geographical pieces early in the process.

Housing and school choices are deeply intertwined

In the competitive Bay Area landscape, finding a home and choosing a school must happen simultaneously. The realities of the local real estate market and commuting corridors will shape your education boundaries. We partner with you to balance both priorities seamlessly.

The public schools here can be exceptional

Many families relocating from areas where private education is standard are stunned by the academic caliber of Northern California’s public school districts. If you are figuring out how to apply to schools in San Francisco, specifically in the public sector, we ensure you have the local data to navigate lotteries and boundaries fully.

An extraordinary landscape for neurodivergent learners

For children with additional learning profiles, this region is unmatched, featuring more than 30 specialized schools and inclusive environments designed for ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and developmental differences. Working alongside groups like the Inclusive Schools Group (ISG), we help protect your child’s emotional and academic well-being.

Private school demand is high, and timing matters

The area’s most selective independent schools routinely face application volumes that drive acceptance rates below 15%. Navigating these competitive entry points demands an intentional strategy, and our established relationships with admissions directors provide essential clarity.

Off-cycle arrivals are normal, and we are built for them

Most corporate moves do not neatly align with standard application deadlines. If you are arriving mid-year or on a highly compressed timeline, our consultants specialize in uncovering excellent, available placements under tight constraints.

Trusted Education Consultants in San Francisco, CA

Real education expertise, deep regional roots, and an unwavering focus on your child

When navigating both public and independent school options, we act as trusted education consultants for families across San Francisco and the wider Bay Area. Our team brings decades of institutional knowledge, supporting families exploring pathways across San Francisco, the Peninsula, South Bay, East Bay, and Marin. Because our team is composed of former educators and school administrators, we look far beyond brochures, evaluating each environment based on genuine fit, curriculum approach, and school culture.

As an independent education consulting firm, our guidance is always unbiased. We are never contracted by schools, so every recommendation is shaped solely by what will allow your child to thrive.

How assignment works here is worth understanding early. San Francisco Unified runs a citywide choice system, where an attendance area gives your child a tiebreaker rather than a reserved place, while districts on the Peninsula, in the South Bay and in Marin generally assign by residence. That single difference is why housing and school decisions are best made together, and it is usually where our consultants start.

Decades of boots-on-the-ground experience with public and independent regional schools.

Long-term, respected communication channels with local admissions departments.

Certified expertise in special education needs (SEN) and neurodiverse matching, with access to 30+ specialized programs.

Strategic placement plans that integrate neighborhood safety, commutes, budgets, and school culture.

Backed by Bennett International’s global reputation, corporate trust from Fortune 500 networks, and IECA credentials.

      Your Questions Answered

      Bay Area Schooling, Demystified

Navigating the education landscape across the Bay Area can spark a lot of questions, especially when you are balancing school choices with housing markets and regional transitions. Below, we break down the vital information families need to find clarity and move forward with confidence.

Does living near a school mean our child will be assigned there?

In San Francisco, not on its own. San Francisco Unified runs a citywide choice system: families rank schools in order of preference, and living in an attendance area gives a child a tiebreaker at that school rather than a reserved place. Children living on the same street can be assigned to different schools.

Districts on the Peninsula, in the South Bay and in Marin generally assign by residence instead, which is one reason this region rewards deciding where to live and where to apply at the same time. We help families work through both together.

San Francisco, the Peninsula, the South Bay, the East Bay and Marin each run on their own admissions logic and their own calendars, and the commute between them shapes what is realistic as much as the map does. A family weighing Palo Alto against Marin is weighing two different school searches rather than two addresses.

Our consultants work across all five regions, so we can compare them side by side and talk through which ones genuinely suit your family.

Earlier than most families expect. The San Francisco Unified main round closes at the start of February for the following school year, and most independent schools across the Bay Area close their applications in December, which puts the decisions that matter in the fall.

These dates move a little each year. Our update on San Francisco school admissions for 2027-28 sets out the current calendar and where the district’s assignment policy stands.

The Bay Area has an unusual concentration of options, including more than 30 schools that specialize in supporting students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia and other learning differences, alongside public districts with well-established support teams.

We review the evaluations and reports a family already holds rather than carrying out testing ourselves, explain how different districts and independent schools are likely to respond to them, and help you find an environment where your child is understood.

Off-cycle arrivals are common here, and they are among the situations we handle most often. Places open through the year as families move, and our consultants keep current on which schools have space, who to speak with, and how to present an application that arrives after the main round.

It is rarely too late to begin. The sooner we can talk, the more options we can open up.
