In case you’d like a new take on the pecan pie, a colleague recently shared this recipe for a chocolate bourbon pecan pie—how could I not pass it along?
It’s that time in the U.S. when we are preparing for Thanksgiving, a holiday that is as lovely as it is profoundly American, and one that many consider their favorite. Traditionally uncommercial, it’s a time when we put down tools and immerse ourselves in reuniting with loved ones and enjoying a feast together; and when we pause to note all that we’re thankful for and to be consciously grateful for our many blessings.
Such a tradition comes with many other pleasures— if we’re very lucky—counting down the days ‘til grown kids and other family members come home, removing clutter from the dining room table, which will be extended in order accommodate large numbers, and making sure that the larder is stocked; to say nothing of the pulling out of favored recipes and the preparing for a large meal that must include, among other things: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffings, butternut squash, green beans, cranberry jelly or sauce (highly controversial), salads, and an array of pies, which in turn, must include apple, pumpkin and pecan. There are variations on all of this, of course, but generally speaking our meals are more similar on Thanksgiving than they are different.
As always, we at Bennett extend our thanks to the many organizations and individuals who enable Bennett to thrive: our industry partners and corporate clients who entrust us with the care of their employees, our admissions colleagues who answer our calls and texts at off hours, and the families who entrust us with the details of their children’s lives and rely on us to make their next chapter a good one; likewise, I extend my thanks to all of Team Bennett, especially our consultants, who work tirelessly on behalf of the families they support, offering their particular blend of empathy and expertise 365 days a year.
Happy Thanksgiving, whether you celebrate it this way or differently or not at all, and may you enjoy a respite with loved ones.
With much appreciation,
Elizabeth
